Who is Your Builder, Will Matchett?
Will Matchett • November 23, 2021

Will was born and raised in the country growing up around Yaraka QLD and Moree NSW where his family owned and ran sheep, cattle and grew crops. As a child, Will was always tinkering with ropes and hammers and exploring his huge properties.

At the age of 13, Will began his high schooling by boarding at the Toowoomba Grammar School until Year 12. It was there that Will found the construction industry and knew that carpentry was what he wanted to do. After completing his apprenticeship with Michael Jones he began his working career.

His career has seen him; sub-contracting locally in Toowoomba, in the mines of Kununurra, building Government housing in Weipa, Cairns, Mornington Island and Katherine, cyclone relief work on Hamilton Island, homes and sheds in Rockhampton, Cloncurry and Nebo. It was in 2016 that Will decided to move back to Toowoomba where he found carpentry work on the Grand Central extension. It was then that he began working towards starting his own business.

He completed his Queensland Builders License in 2018 and has since been busy directing the Matchett Constructions company as well as managing his team of three full-time carpenters. Will is easy going and accommodating when it comes to working with him and he ensures that his clients are 100% satisfied with the planning, constructing and finishing of jobs. With his broad range of experience and strong knowledge of the building industry, Will and Matchett Constructions are becoming a well-known and well-respected local business in Toowoomba and the Darling Downs.

When Will is not working, he loves all things outdoors, camping and traveling Australia, but he mostly loves his boat and fishing! He is also busy growing a family with his (teacher) wife, Jess and their son, Charlie with another little Matchett addition due in 2021.

If Will wasn’t busy enough, his family are also in the process to renovate and extend their own Queenslander style home in Toowoomba!

Will is extremely passionate about his work and takes great pride in all of his jobs. He dedicates a lot of time and effort to ensure his clients are happy with the Matchett Constructions teams’ quality of workmanship and finished products.
