🎉 We're back in action for 2024, and January has been a busy month at our Borghardt Rd construction site! The tiling work is nearly done, just a few touches left before we add a fresh coat of paint to really breathe life into this beautiful home, inside and out! The circular window in the front courtyard will soon frame a feature tree, a cherished addition chosen by the clients. 🚧Construction Update! 🚧 The Burraway Blockwork is up! As always, the teams at Darling Downs Concreting and Southern Cross Bricklaying have done a great job in laying a strong foundation for our extension. The block retaining will soon support a suspended slab, creating the base for our future space. Last Friday, the Matchett team enjoyed an afternoon at the Toowoomba Clay Target Club, marking the year's end and taking a break from the tools. For the first time all year, our apprentices had the upper hand on the carpenters, with first-year apprentice Matt securing first place, closely followed by second-year apprentice Tom. 📅 Please note that our office will be closed from Thursday, December 21st, and will reopen on Monday, January 15th. 🎄 Wishing you a joyful and safe Christmas and New Year from all of us at Matchett! Thanks to the favorable weather conditions we've had over the past week, we were able to successfully pour the slab for the foundation. The construction of the deck at the farmstay cabins in Maidenwell is currently in progress, with Jordy and Tom bringing this vision to reality. When completed, the deck will offer plenty of space for guests to unwind and immerse themselves in the natural beauty that surrounds these cabins. 🏡🍂 These cozy retreats are designed to offer a balance of comfort and charm. Let's talk lighting! Maximising natural light in any new home design or renovation is very important as it adds character and enhances any space that directly benefits from the lighting. There are a large number of ways you can add natural lighting to your home with a few of them shown here, through the use of hi-lite windows, large sliding doors or stacker doors. A modern feature that we are seeing an increase in, is the use of skylights. Skylights not only add natural lighting to the area but also create a luxury finish!

The boys have been working hard sheeting and cladding the Farmstay Cabins at Firebreak Farm in Maidenwell. Over the next couple of weeks we will see the sheeting and cladding being completed and the Wet Seal being done, ready for the Cabinetry and Joinery to go in by the team at Halls Cabinets and Joinery. The clients have engaged Blended Interiors and Designs to assist in the final Design Finishes to ensure these cabins are somewhere everyone must to visit!

Llewellyn Street - WOW! We received some photos last week of our completed project at Llewellyn Street from Lockhart Drafting & Design, who have entered into the Design Awards for this stunning home. We are sure this one will be a hit and we wish them all the best with their entry!

Friday Flashback. On this day in 2017, we got to experience the full devastation of cyclone Debbie in the Whitsundays. We were part of a makesafe crew on Hamitlon Island, securing the buildings, re-roofing and generally assessing the island for damage. Our mode of transport on the island during our stay wasn't always the most practical for carting materials 😂

Out with the old and in with the new! A big week from the boys to get 178 Perth St ready for it's new roof next week. The tarps are just an accessory for now as this one had a little bit of extra work involved restoring and tying the existing roof into the new. When we are finished with this stunning renovation it will consist of 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large kitchen, butlers pantry and outdoor entertaining area, sitting pretty on 950m2 only minutes to the CBD and Queens park. Keep your eyes peeled for the after's of these shots and more to come of this renovation!

It might not look like much now but this is one of 2 planned boutique farm stays planned for the Cooyar ranges for a free range farm. This cottage will be getting a full rebuild plus extension and deck looking over this beautiful valley. The second footage will be brand new build and is situated 1km further along the track. We are excited to watch this transformation over the coming months.

Looking for a change of scenery next year or a new challenge. Matchett Constructions are a small family run company based in Toowoomba specilising in renovations, Extensions and new builds. With several exciting projects kicking off next year we require 1 x Supervior. The successful applicant will have a good knowledge of renovations and new build experince, they must have the ability to think on their feet, problem solve and liase with contractors and clients. We have good culture in our workplace so a positive can do attitude is a must. You will spend approximately 60/40 split between off the tools and on them. You will be required to use a laptop and ipad so experince in these areas is required. If you take pride in your work and love what you do, we would love to chat.

What a day for trusses. We are enjoying the warmer weather that is for sure. This is a first for us, dealing with a client who is working overseas, thanks to our client portal/app we can keep our clients upto date with photos and emails all in one location and accessible anywhere in Australia or overseas. We upload all our docs, photos and emails through this so communicating with clients is made easy.
